Youth Conservation Classes

Founded in 1928, the Andrew E. Zimmer Fish & Game Protectors Association is one of the oldest conservation groups on Staten Island.  Since then we have dedicated our time and resources to introducing and educating the youth of Staten Island to the conservation and enjoyment of the outdoors.  2012 marks our 64th Annual Youth Conservation Program.  The program is an enjoyable blend of learning and recreation that heightens the participant’s environmental awareness.  It runs for twelve (12) weeks and introduces the youth to activities that bring conservation topics to life such as:  Environmental Conservation, Estuary Systems, Blue and Green Belt Management, Boating, Hunting, Fishing (both salt & fresh water), First Aid, Camping, Rifle Marksmanship, Archery, Compass & Map reading.   Successful completion of the “Safe Boating Classes” will result in a NYS Boating License being issued by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. At the conclusion of our program achievement awards are presented. Qualified individual(s) are afforded the opportunity to continue their education by receiving a one week scholarship to NYSDEC camp. Since 1995, we have been sending children to NYSDEC Camp DeBruce and limiting attendance to 12 to14 year olds
